Story of Love
Melissa and Daniel starred together in the popular 2014 Mexican soap opera ‘Siempre Tuya Acapulco’ in which Daniel sang the opening theme – ‘Quiero Decirte’.
The show proved popular with viewers as it focused on the budding romance between Daniel’s character – Diego Rivas Santander and Melissa’s character – Olvido Perez. It first aired in February 2014 with the final episode on August 17, 2014. Unlike soap operas familiar to US viewers, Mexican soap operas usually air for less than one year typically ending in the marriage of the 2 main characters and the demise of the villain. “Siempre Tuya Acapulco” held true to this pattern.
For both Daniel and Melissa their success has kept them busy since the end of “Siempre Tuya Acapulco.” Melissa is now appearing in the musical – ‘Hoy No Me Puedo Levantar (I Can’t Get Up Today) at the Teatro Aldama in México City. Since attending NYU to study theatre, this has been her passion. She also hosts the TV Azteca Show ‘Sin Rumbo Fijo’ which focuses on adventure tourism and gastronomy in México. Daniel released his first album at the end of 2014 entitled – ‘Quiero Decirte’ and stars in the musical ‘Mentira, el Musical’ at the Teatro México in México City.
Daniel and Melissa shared their thoughts on life, happiness and the entertainment industry
Daniel: • “Focus – Discipline – Believe in Yourself” is a mantra he continually repeats. • Eating healthy and living a healthy lifestyle: Daniel watches his sugar intake. One way to do so is to substitute fresh fruit for desserts. By adding egg whites, fruit, oatmeal and increasing his water intake, he is better prepared to face the rigors of his busy schedule. Along with a healthy diet, getting 8 hours of sleep a day is crucial. • In Daniel’s words – ‘Life has had more downs than ups, however, the downs gave me the strength and I have learned from them. See the light to pass through the darkness.
Melissa: • Always believe in yourself and keep your mind focused. If you know it, you will make it. Discouragement happens to everyone, don’t take it personal and learn from those whose opinions are important. Learn whom to let into your inner circle. • Sometimes you have to just love yourself – disconnect from your social media and find a passion or hobby. Connect to those who love you. • Be careful about what you eat. For Melissa coming from a family that was into healthy eating has helped her to maintain her health even in the most stressful of circumstances. Make sure to eat plenty of fresh fruit, vegetables and one of her favorites – blended drinks/shakes containing fresh ingredients.
